Bowl Matchups Schedule: Cotton Highlights the Best Outside the BCS PhotoHere's your complete 2007-08 College Football Bowl Schedule. I'm having a hard time getting excited about a lot of the bowl games this year. Granted after this two-three week break I'll find a way, but there seems to be a lack of compelling matchups. Sure, I'm ecstatic Michigan State gets to face a solid Boston College team (feeling is not mutual, you should check out the Eagles boards. Ouch) but I'm reaching to come up with the three below.

Best games outside of the BCS:

Sun - South Florida vs Oregon
Granted the Ducks are barely a shadow of themselves without Dixon, but they should get incrementally healthier for a fun game between two of the hottest first half of the season teams.

Meineke Car Care - UConn vs Wake Forest
I listed this last week as a matchup I wanted to see so that these two coaches can get more of a spotlight and eventually head a big time program.

Cotton - Missouri vs Arkansas
One by air, two by ground.

Motor City - Purdue vs Central Michigan
If you want points you'll get more than you could ever desire the day after Christmas.

Why is this a bowl game ...

Independence - Colorado vs Alabama
These two teams will be rewarded for their disappointing seasons. IT'S THE PETROSUN BOWL, BROTHER!

What bowl games interest you the most outside of the BCS?

Some bias here, but I really like the Tennessee/Wisconsin match-up.  Granted, both teams are inconsistent so it could be a blowout either way, but I think it'll be a pretty good game.

I do think their styles matchup well. That will hardly be the two touchdown victory by Tennessee that I suspect most of FanIQ will predict.

Too bad we didn't get the UCF and Arkansas matchup. Would loved to have seen McFadden go head to head against Smith.

I kind of like Arizona State vs. Texas in the Pacific Life Holiday bowl and UCLA vs. BYU in the Pioneer Las Vegas.

Didn't UCLA and BYU already play this year?

Michigan and Florida could be a pretty good one.

Yup, UCLA got their one non-conference win.

I think Florida should beat Michigan, but if Hart runs wild he'll keep it close.

Hart being healthy will help but I'll be taking Florida with whatever spread is attached. Florida is precisely the type of team this year that Michigan struggles against.

Completely forgot about the spread offense... which disappoints me because I always give my friend crap about that.  Plus, Florida has a big coaching advantage.

Yeah, Florida definately scares me. I think Tebow is totally overrated as a passer, but he is better than App. St's qb and he shredded UM. So we'll see. If Michigan can pound the ball on the ground, they may have a chance.

I bet Hart rushes for close to 200, but Michigan just doesn't have anyone to match Tebow and Harvin. Nobody. Tebow is plenty physical as we've seen. Might have his best game of the Heisman season.

June Jones just said Tebow not Brennen was a system QB.

Right. Let's see, Hawaii's offense hasn't changed in June Jones Era. Stoops curtailed his offense this year around Tebow.

June Jones is a moron.  I hate Hawaii.  There spot in the BCS is such a waste.

Edit : That statement is so stupid I wanted to give you a PQ in honor of Jones stupidity... but I didn't.

I'm still befuddled at how ridiculous a comment that was. Why and how did Jones turn into such an arrogant a-hole. He coaches Hawaii? I guess beating marginal schools can get to your head.

No kidding.  I'd like to see Florida and Hawaii play.  I think Meyer and the crew would devise a special gameplan just to show Jones how much better Tebow is than Brennan.

This is a scam!!  Tell me how LSU jumps to #2 for a (how convenient) match between them and OSU?  This season is just proof that the NCAA needs a playoff of some sort.  Its ridiculous that in this game - which generates and insane amount of money - its not who you lose to, but WHEN you lose.  thats a pretty crappy way to help determine who the best is.

as far as hawaii - they are the only undefeated team right now.  Yes they are in the WAC and no they dont deserve to be in the NC game.  That being said - look at what Boise did last year.  no one expected them to win against OU and they did.  The problem with this system is Boise and Hawaii will never have a chance at a NC game - and that means the system is flawed.

as far as good matches - um v florida looks really good.  i also like MSU v BC.  that should be good too.  Not good:  Ill v USC...what???  ugh!  south florida v oregon?? and my favorite - rutgers v ball state in the international bowl in toronto..canada - meet the best the us offers in college football!

Surely the overrated comment is meant as a joke---right?????

Opening game of 2008 in the Swamp--HI vs the Gators---it won't be pretty.  Especially after Jones running his mouth on ESPN tonight.

im not sure if colt is coming back next year - if hes a sr or what - but did you guys watch the game last night?  granted it was washington but you cant take anything away from colt.  he was 20 for 20, finished like 43 of 49 or some crazy sh!t like that.  kids got an arm.  im sure it wont make a difference vrs the gators.  but still, i was impressed.

Yes,  August 30 in the Swamp.  Between uga and the Gators--HI may not want to leave the island in the future!!

I am pretty sure this is Brennan's senior year.  He was at Colorado as walk on--and even though he was kicked off the team--I am pretty sure that counted as a year.

Gators schedule

They sure do. Something tells me Tebow will throw for 6 TD's and run for another 3. With Myer keeping the starters in until the end.

And we're bashing Alabama and Colorado because.......?

I can name a few more bowls that will have less desired teams to watch than this game.  So, who cares?

Bama's in a bowl game and I'm happy.  I might try to make this into a road trip.  I bet if Saban wasn't coaching the Tide, no one outside of Boulder and Tuscaloosa would have noticed this matchup.
