Cedric Benson Boat Photo Raises Questions

I Think I'm Starting To Believe Cedric Benson's Claim That He Was Harassed By Police
>7 days ago
You may remember a few days ago that Cedric Benson was arrested by police for boating while intoxicated. We all got a good laugh out of it because Benson really did look drunk in his mug shot.
We also laughed because Benson claimed he acted like an absolute saint while being arrested, using terms like sir and please, when he's known for having some anger management issues in the past. Like breaking down an apartment door in college because he thought his $15,000 TV was in there (it wasn't).
But with any case, it's never as simple as it appears. Luckily, the Chicago Tribune managed to snag a photo of Benson on his boat a few hours before the cops nabbed him. It's certainly not the Minnesota Vikings sex boat party.

That's Benson, his mom, and Texas cornerback Deon Beasley. There's one bottle of Grey Goose back there and one girl looks like she has a beer in her hand, but it hardly looks out of order. You'd also assume that with his mom there that things probably wouldn't get too out of hand.
You may also notice another detail. And that's that all the girls on the boat are Caucasian and all the males are African-American. Combine this with a police force that is known to arrest guys for "BWB" (boating while black) according to Austin area locals, and suddenly Benson's claim that the police roughed him up seems A LOT more credible - whether he was actually drunk or not.
One passenger on the boat, Elizabeth Cartwright, also told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday night that she didn't believe Benson was drunk and that she and her fiance, also a passenger, were surprised when an officer required a sobriety test. She also disputed Benson was resisting arrest.
Anyway, the truth probably lies somewhere in between. Which unfortunately means we'll never get it.
