Chris Leak's Championship Shoes For Sale

Be The First To Touch Chris Leak's Shoes, Because We Know No One From Ohio State Did

Chris Leak's Championship Shoes For Sale PhotoIt's been a weird last few weeks for the Florida Gators, what with Tim Tebow circumcising Philippine children, Jamar Hornsby using a deceased girl's credit card for six months, and Matt Patchan getting shot, but now we have even more weirdness.

Former Gators QB Chris Leak sold off the shoes he wore in the 2007 BCS title game to a memorabilia company which now has them up on eBay for a whopping "buy-now" price of $10,000.

You're telling me that a quarterback that scored an 8 on his Wonderlic test and didn't make the NFL is selling stuff off to a memorabilia company? I'm shocked. And by "shocked", I mean "not shocked at all." By the way, according to the guy that designed the Wonderlic test, a score of 10 means you're literate. Which means, uh, an 8 is bad.

Yet somehow according to Wikipedia, Leak was listed on the SEC Academic Honor Roll each semester at UF. If that's true, that confirms pretty much every stereotype I've ever had about the quality of education at SEC schools.

Anyway, in addition to the shoes, Leak's helmet from the Army All-American high school game is also up as well. That's a slightly more reasonable $2,500.

It's been quite a curious fall for Leak, who was once the most highly touted high school recruit in the country. I'm not even sure what he's doing now. He didn't even come close to being an NFL player and he was a 6th round draft pick in the All American Football League that was forced to cancel its 2008 season because of lack of money. If you troll around some CFL forums people think he could be good there, but I can't confirm he's signed with any team.

I guess here's where I should also say something like "Even the most hyped athletes coming out of high school should take their education seriously because you never know what's going to happen."

But what's the point. It's not like anyone will listen anyway.
