Curt Schilling Hammers Bonds and McGwire, In Response Barry Calls Bob Costas a Midget
by CriticalFanatic

You're shocked. Curt Schilling speaking up? For as much crap as he gets, he's usually making good points even if he seems like a prick about it. Participating in "Costas Now" on HBO, he questioned whether Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire hadn't already admitted their guilt:
"If someone wrote that stuff about me and I didn't sue their [butt] off, am I not admitting that there's some legitimacy to it?" he said on HBO's "Costas Now."

"If I wrote a book about Bob Costas and in that book I wrote about Bob Costas' girlfriend being on the road, and Bob Costas giving that girlfriend card show money and I outlined your daily steroid regimen, I've got to believe your first line of defense is to sue my [butt] off," Schilling said.

"It goes to the Mark McGwire thing in Congress. I mean, I'm a huge Mark McGwire fan. But I just always thought it was very simple: If you did something and someone asks you if you did it and you didn't do it, you say no. Any other answer than no is some form of yes, isn't it?"

For the most part I agree. It's not so much that Bonds needs to sue to defend himself ... it's that he hasn't offered up any real defense to the laundry list of accusations.

When given an opportunity to defend himself, Barry Bonds yet again fails to ddress the issue head on. Instead, offers snide comment about Costas:

"You mean that little midget man who absolutely knows jacks -- about baseball, who never played the game before?" Bonds said to a handful of reporters before Wednesday night's game. "You can tell Bob Costas what I called him."

While a little funny, why can't Bonds be mature and simply address it. That's all we're asking. Oh, and that you never criticize Costas. That's just wrong.

If Curt Schilling, a fellow MLB player, doesn't have the right to speak up, then who does? I agree that Curt is sometimes over the top in his outspokenness, but doesn't he have a right to free speech? And I think HIS opinion is worth a lot more than most of ours, at least on this topic.

I just don't think Curt needs to worry about what is going with Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire. They have nothing to do with him and he should be worried about pitching well, not other people's issues with steroids.

Also, if Curt wants to call out people like Barry and McGwire, why doesn't he call out all the people caught using steroids and the other people who were confused. He just singles out the people he doesn't like and talks from his ass about them.
