Duke Dies by the Three; West Virginia Wins 73-67
3/22/08

If the 'Eers will burn a couch for any ol' reason, think how many are going down tonight after a 2nd Round victory over Duke.
Blue Devils shot 5-for-22 from three-point range and three of those came in the final desperate minutes. When you're Duke, going 2-for-18 from outside for most of the game, chances are good you're going to lose.
West Virginia's expertise in the half court set took over in a game with very little flow, thanks to Ed Hightower and his 48 fouls called. Finally the officials may have been a disadvantage for the Dukies despite numerous Mountaineers in foul trouble.
Joe Alexander led the Burning Couches with 22 points and 11 rebounds, although Joe Mazzulla deserves most of the credit scoring 13 points off the bench and grabbing an impressive 11 rebounds for a 6'2 guard. DeMarcus Nelson ends his Duke career with 6 points on 2-11 shooting.
What a grand way to start the weekend.
West Virginia 73, Duke 67
