FBI, NBA Investigating Referee Betting On Games
by CriticalFanatic

This certainly won't help the reputation NBA referees have been acquiring lately, but it could help to explain the inconsistency.
THE FBI is investigating an NBA referee who allegedly was betting on basketball games - including ones he was officiating during the past two seasons - as part of an organized-crime probe in the Big Apple, The Post has learned.
Incredibly disturbing news when you considering how poorly many NBA playoff games have been officiated over the last few years. To think a gambling ring can infiltrate the NBA is very disconcerting.

I'll be interesting to see what names get brought up from the media, fans and those around the NBA. Obviously Joey Crawford's name will come up since he's had some previous issues with taxes.

Another name, and this would be a shocker, but what about Bob Delaney. Prior to working with the NBA, Delaney worked as an undercover cop inside of the New Jersey / New York mob scene. He certainly would have some connections.

Major black eye for David Stern.

Hey maybe that's why Crawford tossed Duncan from the Dallas/Spurs game. He bet on the Mavs and he was afraid that the Spurs were playing too well!

About 10 years ago Nick Van Exel said he wanted the FBI to investigate the officiating after a game.  He got suspended.

If I were Nick, I'd try to get the lost salary back now.

I agree, this is a MAJOR story.  I want to know what games were bet on.

This HAS to be just the tip of the iceberg.

There's no chance that only one NBA referee acted alone, and there's even less chance this is isolated to the last two years.

Much like the steroid issue, I'd prefer the NBA come clean with as much information at possible so that it's easier for us to move on.

I agree.

There is a ton more to this story than we know (maybe will ever know). It's just sad that stuff like this happens. I mean now all of us fans are looking at all these games where we think the refs were terrible in and wonder whether they had bet on the game! I'm also curious to see all of the names that start coming forward with this situation.

The image consious NBA will never willingly come clean.  David Stern will try to scape goat the one official and keep as little as possible from reaching the public.

I know this story is only a few hours old but it could be bigger than Pete Rose and really rock the league.  As a Kings fans, my first thought was the kings/lakers series.  I'm sure other fans are now wondering if their team might have gotten the screw job at some point.

yep to me this isnt shocking at all ,  the nba has had some real shady things happening for the last 4-5 years at the least. I think there are also quite a few players shaving points as well as some corruption in the officials.
