Dirt doesn't just fall off of your hand.  It'd odd that it's concentrated to two fingers but as I said when the story originally broke - umpires watch pitchers like a hawk and check baseballs a hundred times throughout a typical game.  Don't see how he'd get past that, how an umpire wouldn't notice pine tar on a baseball.

I also don't understand why he'd need to cheat in April against a horrible lineup.
