Both Andre Woodson and John David Booty weren't drafted on the first day of the NFL Draft for rather obvious reasons. Woodson takes about three years to get a pass off, and Booty just really isn't a pro quarterback. But now we have another reason why they may have to wait awhile before they get drafted.
Both scored a 14 on their Wonderlic test, according to Mac Mirabile, who has been figuring out the Wonderlic scores of QBs for years. Just so you know, Terry Bradshaw, who some people actually worried about drafting because of his lack of intelligence, scored a 15. Here are how this year's QB prospects did.
The average score for a QB is 24. Just in case you forgot, the test is out of 50. You can
see the whole list of quarterback prospect scores - not just for this year, but for numerous years - right here.
It's incredibly entertaining. For instance, I like Tony Romo, but for some reason I've never considered him to be that smart. But I now stand corrected - Romo scored a very high 37 on the Wonderlic. Other entertaining scores include Marcus Vick with an 11 (no shock), Drew Henson got a 42, and Eli got a robust 39 while Peyton got a pedestrian 28. The lowest score is a 6 by some guy from UNC named Oscar Davenport.
The test has also been given to members of the public. Here are how people from various professions performed.
* Chemist - 31
* Sales - 24
* Bank teller - 22
* Security guard - 17
* Warehouse worker - 15
But back to football. Like Davenport, Vince Young also supposedly scored a 6 the first time he took the test, but then took it a second time and scored a 16. Chris Leak also supposedly scored an 8 the first time before taking it a second time and getting a 12. Both players have their higher score listed.
Just so you know, a score under 10 is an indication of literacy problems.
And because I know you're wondering,
according to The Wizard of Odds, the lowest score of all time is supposedly a 4 by former Iowa State running back Darren Davis in the 2000 Draft.
