Michael Vick Now Alone Facing Charges; Left Wondering 'Where have all my friends gone?'
by Nate
8/14/07

Michael Vick is now standing alone to face dog charges after the two remaining co-defendants have agreed to pleas in cooperation with the prosecution.

Late this evening he met with his lawyers to weigh his options.  It's likely that either way it goes Michael Vick could face a couple years in jail.  With all of his friends turning against him, he is quickly losing any bargaining chips for a plea.  Still it's not entirely unlikely that he will take that option to avoid a stiffer sentence.

Only a few weeks ago NFL league commissioner Roger Goodell told Vick not to report to training camp, and just yesterday Yahoo sports reported that a season long suspension could come as early as this week.  At this rate, however, Roger Goodell may not have to do anything further, depending on what Vick decides to do about his current situation and sudden lack of friends.

Not that Vick is in any way the victim here, but it really ticks me off when the feds make it so obvious that they are only going after one person.  Obviously its to send a message but how bout sending a message by bringing all these guys down together (and severely).

Oh like they do for drug traffickers, crime bosses, and organized crimes?  This is the way it has always gone they try to cut it off where the money is.  Do you really think Vick's cousin had the money to keep this thing going?  The goal isn't to get everyone involved it's too complicated to do that, the goal is to end the crime ring and you do that by attacking the money.

I agree there, but in federal court 95% of the cases end in a conviction.  I know the already let off his cousin, and clearly have plenty of information to convict him already, why let the other 3 off easier and just bring all 4 down?

Why do you think 95% end in conviction?  Because they do exactly what they are doing now.  They take these guys all out then they run out of potential evidence, using them against Vick is one demoralizing and two significant evidence to persuade juries.

True, I'd just prefer they bring them all down.  Oh well, looks like Vick is even more screwed than he did before.

Vick is F'd big time.  Say bye bye to the NFL.  What an idiot.

If he dealt drugs or ran a prostitution ring, I'd have more respect for him.

You guys think he killed that dog after the picture because he did not look mean enough?
