NBA All-Star Rosters: Brandon Roy and David West Added As Reserves
by CriticalFanatic

I have a new found faith in the NBA All-Star game. Almost certain the guys that do it right, play on both ends of the floor, and choose execution over flash would get passed over, I'm pumped that the NBA coaches made the right roster decisions.

Brandon Roy and David West made the ridiculous Western Conference All-Star roster. I shouldn't be so surprised, but the annual exhibition of awful basketball has become and platform to show the game's individual talents and not those who are most valuable to winning teams. Maybe I'm a little too old school, but I prefer the latter.

Henry Abbott takes a look at the snubs in each conference. Is there any doubt the Western snubs could beat the Eastern's starters?

In the East I'd tab Jose Calderon as a big, BIG snub. Unfortunately, his name is Jose Calderon and not Jason Kidd or Dwyane Wade. If you have some extra moments take a look at their statistics.

Player A: 12.3 ppg, 8.8 apg, 52% FG, 4th PG in PER, 8:1 assist-turnover ratio (25-20 team record)
Player B: 11.3 ppg, 10.4 apg, 36% FG, 8.2 rpg, 17th PG in PER, 2.8:1 assist-turnover assist (19-26 team record)
Player C: 24.8 ppg, 6.7 apg, 4.3 rpg, 46% FG, 1:1 assist-turnover ratio (9-35 team record)

So you can easily figure out who is who with the records, but take a look at Kidd compared to Calderon. If you've watched Jose play, you'll quickly realize he's as efficient as they come in the Association. If this was 2000, Kidd is the man.

On the West, it's difficult to consider anyone a snub when you look at those who made it. Trouble is there are about 18 players with a legit claim at All-Star status. Baron Davis is more than worthy, but who are you going to take out? Allen Iverson obviously, but the fans intelligently voted him in. Can't take out Nash and Paul. Manu, Bynum, and Deron Williams would all be on the East roster.

Who's the biggest All-Star snub?

I'm pretty satisfied with the rosters for the first time in as long as I can remember.  Maybe Kaman in the West, but his numbers are skewed by being on a bad team that's without Elton Brand.  And Josh Smith in the East, he'd be a treat to see in the All-Star Game, blocking Duncan's half-assed scoops.

Glad Paul Pierce made the team. The guy is more valuable to the team the KG. Yeah, I said it.

I think everybody outside of Boston is saying that.  I'm willing to bet Paul won't choke in the playoffs, either.
