Rays Now Have Better Odds To Win The AL East Than Yankees
I, For One, Welcome Our New Tampa Bay Rays Overlords
6/3/08
I know a lot of people out there aren't really taking the Tampa Bay Not so fast my friend. Sports bettors are taking the Rays very seriously.
For the first time in the history of forever, the Rays have better odds than the New York Yankees to win the AL East. Yes, you read that right.
Here's Bodog's sports futures line for the AL East.

If Hell hasn't officially frozen over yet, my guess is Satan is in the process of warming up his snow blower.
Obviously, odds can change quickly. The Rays were about a billion to one odds at the start of the season to win the World Series. Now, they're 10 to 1 odds.
And as Vegas Watch points out, the Rays have played nearly 60% of their games at home, the highest mark in the AL. They've gone 24-10 in those, which means they're only 11-12 on the road. Appropriately, their next nine are away from home, against Boston, Texas, and the Angels.
Still though, today is a historic day. I never thought I'd see the day where sports bettors actually had the Rays at better odds than the Yankees. By the way, the Yankees have a total payroll of $207 million. The Rays? $43 million. That's efficiency for you.
And hey, with the recent Ortiz injury, you never know. These Rays may just win the AL East. That will probably trigger the apocalypse, but I can live with that.
