Suzyn Waldman Cries On-air After Yankees Eliminated from Postseason, Even John Sterling Was Surprised
by CriticalFanatic
10/9/07

I'm sure you remember Suzyn Waldman during the Roger Clemens live announcement from Yankee Stadium, screaming that this was the greatest moment ever.

For someone whose perspective is so far off, you probably wouldn't be surprised to know she was in tears last night following the Yankees loss to Cleveland. Listening to this I would have thought Joe Torre informed Suzyn of a terminal illness.

WCBS 880 Audio

Even John Sterling was trying to help her understand it wasn't really that bad. I respect her passion, but there's only a couple instances where crying on-air is acceptable, simply losing a game is not one of them.

She is human and she loves her team.  I believe that she should have cried privately, but the fact that the one of their own who is going to be fired for winning 4 World Series, 10 Division titles including 9 in a row until this year, and showing utter class when dealing with an egomaniacal, micromanaging asshole.  I do not blame her for crying.  Torre is from the Bronx, born and raised.  He represents old New York, if you don't know what this means then you need to look it up or ask someone.  You will not find another manager like him again.  I actually got a little teary-eyed myself this morning when I found out the Yanks lost.  I will miss him.

Well thought out comment and completely relevant to the topic.  I am not a Yankee fan, in fact, I have hated them for years, but I have no choice but respect Torre and what he has done and so do you.

Honestly, that was pathetic. I understand that she has some emotions invested in the Yankees, but as a professional sports broadcaster, she should not be blubbering like a baby. That's just ridiculous.
