Belmont University Almost, Almost Provides Tournament's Biggest Upset Ever Against Duke
by CriticalFanatic
3/21/08

I don't know about you, but I'm still not over that final minute of the Duke-Belmont game last night. I can only imagine how the Bruins slept last night.

The upset would have been awesome, nearly making all of ours sports years, but the fact that for 40 minutes tiny Belmont University was able to hang with one of the winningest programs in the history of college basketball makes this tournament what it is. Upsets are great, near upsets aren't too far behind.

This goes to show you how vulnerable Duke has become. Last year it was an early exit versus VCU, this year they won't be around much longer. Have they become the Dallas Mavericks or Phoenix Suns of college hoops? Sure looks like it. The era of a post presence is not over.

By the way, what was the plan on the inbounds play? And FIND THE BALL on transition defense!!

Duke Sucks.

I was crushed to see Belmont lose that game. Man, they really peed down their collective leg on that inbounds play under the hoop.

Who worked the announcing for that game? I understand it was an exciting game, but good God! Absolutely everything that was done was proclaimed the greatest feat ever! "Did you see that free throw? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!" And that would be with 8 minutes left!

That was the missed call in favor of dook with the ref looking right at Paula. Horrible.
