Big Brown May Finally Be The Triple Crown Horse We've Been Waiting For
by 100%InjuryRate 100%InjuryRate

Like most people, I'm not any kind of huge horse racing fan, but I always watch the three legs of the Triple Crown, even when no horse has a shot at winning it.

But luckily, this year, the Triple Crown is not only a very real possibility, it almost seems inevitable at this point.

Big Brown blew away the competition today at the Preakness with such a dominant run that he almost seemed to breathe new life into the sport in the process. The stunning thing was that Big Brown won by 5 1/4 lengths (even though it seem like much more than that) and wasn't whipped once. I may not know a lot about horse racing, but that, my friends, is impressive.

For the first time since Smarty Jones lost the Triple Crown by a nose, I'm actually excited about horse racing. I can't wait for the Belmont Stakes. I think we're finally going to see another horse win the Triple Crown. Big Brown is the real deal.

While I can agree with you, I just didn't feel he was that great.  But the more I debate his greatness within my own mind, I still doubt he can pull out the Triple.  Is Big Brown good?  Yes.  Has he faced any horses that seem on his level?  Not in my eyes.   Seeing Casino Drive win the Peter Pan in convincing fashion makes me say what I am saying.  Either way, it always is great seeing something like this.

One little fact:  Casino Drive's dam, Better Than Honour is going for a "Triple" of her own.  She's also the dam of Rags to Riches and Jazil -- the last two winners of the Belmont Stakes.

Dang, I was hoping Big Brown would lose so we wouldn't have to hear about horse racing until next year.  Dang.

Insert "Big Brown took a big dump on the field" joke here.
