Danny Green Dunks On Greg Paulus, North Carolina Wins ACC Championship
by CriticalFanatic
3/9/08

#1 North Carolina 76, #5 Duke 68
Ty Lawson playing in their first meeting would have helped, but so would have an effective Danny Green. Last night he led all scorers with 18, two of those coming on this beautiful posterization of one ugly Greg Paulus. The Tar Heels definitely have their flaws, but when playing at their pace and getting ridiculous quick and easy transition points their very tough to beat. Baring a first round ACC tourney loss and a subsequent Duke victory, UNC now has home court for through the regionals and that means I'll likely be penciling them into the Final Four. You?

#2 UCLA 81, California 80 We've already discussed this game and all it's absurdity a little, so we'll just refresh your mind with the video highlights. At this point I wouldn't be picking the Bruins to lose anytime soon, either.

#10 Georgetown 55, #13 Louisville 52 I'm a little torn heading in March Madness as I picked the Hoyas to win it all back in October. I'm tempted to stick with my pick, but I see very little way that happens. They aren't quite the crisp offensive machine I envisioned they would become by March, BUT they are beating good teams. Last year, G'town entered the tournament with one of the most efficient offenses. This year, KenPom has them 28th. I've been seeing a lot of talking heads picking Louisville to the Final Four ... anyone out there besides Cardinal fans plan to do so still?

Syracuse 87, #20 Marquette 72 I still don't think that's going to be enough for the Orange ... yet.

Winthrop 66, Kenny George 48 Terribly disappointed we don't get to see the big man dancing, but I'll be even more upset if Michigan State gets paired with Winthrop in the first round. Yikes.

I love seeing that more than anyone, but I'm left asking why isn't that a charge? Would he be considered too close to the hoop? He was kind of falling backwards before contact (imagine that from Paulus!), so maybe the ref considered it a flop.

I hate it, but Danny Green was the QB for my HS football team, so I gotta give hometown love. Plus his Dad was one of my teachers (regardless of where he may be now).

Also that was a ridiculous no call at the end of the Cal UCLA game where he was mauled and the ball went out of bounds. UCLAs refs certainly believe in home court advantage.
