Jan Kristian Silva: 5 Year-Old Tennis Prodigy Gives Americans Hope at the French Open
by CriticalFanatic

Americans may have hope yet to make it out of the French Open first round by 2018. Jan Kristian Silva would be about 16 by then and at this pace certainly good enough to qualify.

How many 5 year old's have a website dedicated to their athletic prowess?
Jan’s fascination with tennis was seemingly triggered while watching World Team Tennis matches as a baby, where his mother Mari substituted as a World Team Tennis Sacramento Capital, along with may other touring pros such as Mark Knowles, Andre Agassi, Anna Kournikova and Elena Lihkotseva, who all had Jan on their knee at one time or another!
Ah-ha. Now we know why he's a freak show. If Anna Kournikova had me on her lap, I'd have been a little more adamant about practicing tennis at all hours of the day.

Be patient, it appears there's hope again for US Tennis Champion. And here's more video of Silva when he was 3. THREE!

This isn't the best five year old I've seen.  Believe it or not there are plently of kids with this amount of talent at his age.  I'm sure this kid is going to be good, but its hard to tell based on his size.  The way he is hitting the ball in these videos may give him problems once he gets stronger and taller.

Theres a kid that I was taking lessons with at the Indianapolis Racquet Club who was 5 and she was able to keep the ball lower to the net and could put a little more power behind her shots.  That will enable her to add more spin later in her development.

She has a really good backhand.  Some of those shots that are really high in her strike zone are really tough to place, but she manages to send them back deep into the opponent's court.
