Mets' Joe Smith Wins The Battle Against Cubs Fans, Loses The War
by 100%InjuryRate 100%InjuryRate

Every time I see Tiger Woods complain about some photographer that takes a picture of him while he swings, I hate him more and more. And that's because most pro athletes have to deal with a lot more crap than Woods does - especially baseball players.

I remember a friend of mine late in a game sang "I love you Bobby Bonilla!" at the top of his lungs from the box seats at a near empty Candlestick Park. Bonilla naturally grounded into a double-play.

Some baseball players, like Vernon Wells, are creative in dealing with abusive fans. But others, like Joe Smith, are a bit more direct. This is a very-NSFW video from Home Run Derby of Smith ripping into the bleacher bums at Wrigley on April 22. Marty Brennaman approves.

Frankly, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. By the way, if you look closely, you may see Critical Fanatic. He's the guy spilling beer all over himself.

In case you were wondering, Smith gave up three hits and a run over 2/3 of an inning in the game, and the Mets lost 8-1.

Advantage Cubs fans.

LOL @ the little kid calling Joe Smith "a bitch" much to his dad's delight.  I have no respect for the self-conscious athletes that resort to the "I'm in the big leagues, what are you doing?" argument.  Are you not packing downstairs, Joey?  Ignore them.  It's your job to pitch and their job to give you the business, especially in Chicago.  He looked like he was about to cry!

This is one of the best reasons to get into the bleachers early.

A lot of players attempt to interact, some try talking trash horribly bad, but some leave the bleachers in hysterics and without any comeback.

Todd Jones is the all time best.

Is it a coincedence that Joe Smith went to high school right outside of Cincinnati? His inner-Marty came through.

Such argument skills Mr. Smith.

How can the McLaughlin Group go on with out you and blistering repartee. What say you Mr. McLaughlin?

"Issue # 45. On a scale from 1 to 47.8 in integrals of 6.345. How much does Mr. Smith suck? What say you Jimmy Jimmy Jack Germond? WRONG! The answer is banana."

Also, on a completely unrelated note, Bronson Arroyo sucks.

I just had to put that out there. Good thing the Reds have about 30 million dollars invested in him over the next 2-3 years. F'n fantastic.

Why did they wait so long to fire Krivsky?  Who's that pitcher from Washington they dealt for?  Great stuff, never developed, where is he now?
