Pistons and Cavs Win; Dwight Howard, Boston D Nowhere To Be Found
The Playoff Stinkbomb Performances Continue To Roll In
5/11/08
Pistons 90, Magic 89 I think we all thought that if the Magic were ever going to make a move, they were going to have to do it yesterday with Chauncey Billups on the pine. And for parts of Game 4, that looked exactly like what was going to happen. Detroit was a mess since Rodney Stuckey was in foul trouble and Lindsay Hunter was getting significant time.
But then Dwight Howard decided to have the worst game I've ever seen him play, which allowed Detroit to creep back into the game. Howard was a dreadful 3-12 from the floor for 8 points, although he did give us this memorable rejection.
The Magic turned to Hedo Turk-of-Glue who put on an incredibly impressive 4th quarter performance, until he waited to long to drive to the hole for the last shot.
Rip Hamilton, who annoys me to no end, led the Pistons with 32. Tayshaun Prince, who I think is maybe the most underrated player in the league (still), hit the game winning shot. That Prince shot was also responsible for giving us the most hilarious camera shot of the night, which was Stan Van Gundy's daughter's reaction to it. I'd write more, but what's the point, this series is officially over.
Cavs 108, Celtics (failed to appear) My personal crusade against Doc Rivers continues after this no show performance by Boston. At one point Big Z dribbled in for a layup from the top of the key causing Jeff Van Gundy to go nuts about how awful Boston's D was. And he was right, it was terrible beyond belief.
Van Gundy also said that Boston wasn't prepared to play at all. For those of you new to NBA announcing, that's a direct shot at Doc Rivers. Whenever a team is as flat as Boston was, it's always the coach's fault.
LeBron continued to brick it up, going 5-16 from the field, but Delonte West seemingly couldn't miss at all and dropped in 21 points.
I'd expect the Cavs to tie this thing up in Game 4 because let's be honest, Boston refuses to show up on the road and Rivers somehow becomes even worse on the road as well. All those aboard the Boston championship train, forget it, it's not happening.
