The Players Championship - 17th Hole Sawgrass

Even Hacks Can Occasionally Hit the 17th On One Swing
5/8/08

The Letting Others Have A Chance Tour continues today in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida with The Players Championship, arguable the biggest non-major in golf.

Since Tiger Woods was generous enough to let others make some money and pretend they're making progress by winning a few events, this weekend should be entertaining for those who are capable of watching golf without Eldrick.

The 17th hole at Sawgrass is always entertaining as even trained professionals look foolish trying to hit the island green. The green sits only 130-yards away, but with the landing area surrounded almost entirely by water the mind plays tricks.

I'd like to think that if I hit green on my first try I wouldn't have an equally lame celebration as this gent above, but it is golf after all.

What a terrible celebration. I would have gone with the Ty Webb hit the ball and fall down while holding my form. It would seem appropriate on that hole.
