Trevor Immelman Wins Masters' Green Jacket 30 Years After His Mentor Gary Player
>7 days ago
Also wins Carminita. Bonus.
All Tiger Woods could muster was a 70-foot birdie on the courses toughest hole (11th), but misses far too many chances, and frankly, wasn't very good all weekend.
He still finished 2nd.
Trevor Immelman was great for the first three rounds and just good enough on Sunday.
Woods missed every opportunity to put too much pressure on the leaders and Immelman saved himself from total disaster on numerous occasions.
10-foot par save on No. 9, a "great" bogey on No. 11, and even a double bogey on No. 16 all could have been worse.
You're going to read a lot of smug columns tomorrow about how silly it was for Tiger to suggest he could easily win the Grand Slam. He's going to do it sometime, and it's going to be easy. That said, it's still nice to have a new champion here and there.
Well done, lad.
