Two-Thirds Of The Earth Is Covered By Water, The Rest Is Covered By Willie Harris

I love me some day baseball. Usually on Thursdays you'll get a handful of games played under natural light, today we had nine afternoon contests on get-away day.

Jim Edmonds got a hit in his first Cubs at-bat, Cleveland's starters remain hot although the scoreless streak ended, but the Washington Nationals and Willie Harris stole the show.

With a 1-0 lead in the 9th at Shea Stadium, man on first, Mr. Irrelevant provides video of an 'impossible play' made by Willie Harris. The diving catch looks like something you see a lot, but consider how much ground he covered in that span and how fast he was running when he made the catch. This would have been a double, possibly a triple had the Nats old left fielder Alfonso Soriano been covering that ground.

If there was ever an opportunity to cheer like a softball girl, this would have been the time. Nats won the game 1-0 and took the series 3-1. Take that, Nelson Figueroa.

Willie Harris, the man who scored the only run of Game #4 of the 2005 World Series. Good to see him make a play, but I think the broadcasters said something about Rob Mackowiak making a play.

That has to be false right?

What did he do, actually catch a fly ball? I ask this since I can sadly recount many an outfield adventure with ol' Rob when he was with the White Sox.
