Wizards, Caron Butler Take Down Boston Celtics Again
1/15/08
In the span of 48 hours, the Boston Celtics have managed to lose back-to-back games for the first time this season. That's not even the shocking news. Both of those losses came at the hands of the Washington Wizards.
More particularly, they came at the hands of Caron Butler. The new star of the Wizards led his team on a 26-5 run over the final 5 minutes leaving Boston stunned and wondering what kind of team they really have.
Gilbert Arenas has to be wondering about his future in Washington? At times the Wiz play much better without him and Butler has emerged as a star in this league and better yet, the preferred player to build a winning team around.
"Real recognizes real," said Butler, who scored a team-high 21 points as the Wizards (20-16) improved to 17-11 without Arenas and closed to within 1 1/2 games of the Southeast Division-leading Magic. "We respect them, they respect us. Obviously, they are one of the better teams in the league, but we're making a name for ourselves as well. We're a force to be reckoned with as well."Anything to be seriously worried about with the C's? Or just one of the typical slumps all championship teams have throughout the course of the long season?
