Neifi Perez Suspended 25 Games: Maybe Amphetamines Don't Really Work
by CriticalFanatic
7/6/07

If there was ever a case to be made that amphetamines don't always improve performance, here it is.

You just can't make this stuff up. Neifi Perez, of all people, has been suspended 25 games for testing positive to a banned substance. Somewhere Dusty Baker is crying.

Batting a blistering Neifi-like .172 with 1 HR and 6 RBI, the Tigers are really going to feel the affects of this one. I'll add some more to this once I'm done laughing.

It's not a huge loss but it does bring unwanted attention to the Tigers and that is the unfortunate part!!

The tigers can do no wrong, even when a player is suspended, they end up replacing him with a better one, the Raburn era is about to begin!  Im suprised that MLB didnt just let him get away with it because the drugs obviously have not improved his game.  He's been a Tiger for awhile now and the only thing i can remember him doing positive is making one fielding play for Verlanders no hitter and keeping tigers fans from having to look at Chris Shelton this season.

Jim Leyland: "Hey, Neifi, what's that?"
Neifi Perez: "What? Where should I be looking?"
[Leyland switches cups]
Leyland: "Now, let's drink to our success."
Perez: "Aw, thanks skip." [SSLURP] "This tastes funny."

I was shocked to hear he was still in the league.  I liked him when he played for the Rockies 10 or so years ago.  Maybe he was good in the clubhouse or something, I don't see another reason to keep a .172 batter on a big league club, especially one competing for the division.

I know you were being sarcastic. He did come in and play some good defense when Guillen was resting but other than that he is terrible. I was just pointing out that I don't like to see someone like him bringing bad news around the Tigers. That's all my comment was really about!

This is the funniest thing I've seen since the sock puppet Stephen A. If there was ever an argument for PEDs not mattering that much, here it is.

well i wouldnt be talkin cause you like the orioles and they're terribble. and beside why would you come onto TIGER-TURF when you like the orioles, and make-fun of us when your team is pretty bad, sure they have migul tejada and kris benson but thats about it so go back to bird world this is TIGER-TURF and in my mind a tiger will ALWAYS win against a bird and i dont mean the teams but that will probably happen also.

Hello? Anyone home?

I have a few questions for you...

1: This is Tiger Turf? Excuse me?
2: How was he making fun of you?
3: Are you REALLY sticking up for Neifi Perez? Seriously? It's GOOD for the Tigers that he got suspended, if anything.
