Lewis has the Magic in OT win over Pacers

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Rashard Lewis scored 23 points, including the final seven for Orlando in overtime, as the Magic edged the Indiana Pacers, 100-98, for their fifth straight victory.

Lewis finished 9-of-12 from the field, pulled down five rebounds, had six steals, and hit the winning shot with 23.2 seconds remaining. Dwight Howard scored 24 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for Orlando, winners in nine of its last 10 games since starting the season 0-2.

Jameer Nelson contributed 22 points and nine assists for the Magic.

"We didn't play very well, honestly, until the last five minutes of the game and into overtime," said Nelson. "Then we buckled down and got some stops and made some shots when they counted."

T.J. Ford scored 22 for the Pacers, but he missed a last-second shot at the end of overtime. Marquis Daniels led the way with a season-high 25 points for Indiana, which has dropped three of its last four games. Danny Granger scored 21 in defeat.

"We had some tough shots down the stretch that didn't fall," said Ford.

Granger's three-pointer gave the Pacers a 96-93 edge with just over three minutes left in overtime, but Lewis nailed a three and then his bucket made it 98-96.

A Daniels layup tied the game, but each team then missed opportunities, Nelson missing a pair of jumpers and Daniels also missing a shot. Troy Murphy drove the lane in the final minute, but Howard came up with a huge block. Lewis then hit the go-ahead jumper from the left side.

With time running out, Ford dribbled with the ball to the right baseline, but his jumper clanked off the rim as time ran out.

Indiana led 34-28 after one quarter and 54-50 at the half. The Pacers were in front 77-70 going to the fourth and had a chance to win at the end of regulation when Rasho Nesterovic drove the lane, but was rejected by Howard. That moved the game to OT tied at 91.

Game Notes

Nesterovic had six points, nine rebounds and a career-best eight assists... Orlando has won three in a row against the Pacers...Mickael Pietrus had 10 points for the Magic.
