Mavs try for first home win vs. Memphis |
(Sports Network) - The Mavericks have shown a pulse on the road this season and will now attempt to win for the first time in Dallas as they welcome the Memphis Grizzlies to American Airlines Center.
Something has to give tonight as the Mavs are 0-4 in Dallas this year but have beaten Memphis 11 straight times. The last time the Grizzlies beat Dallas was on November 26, 2005 in North Texas.
The Mavs completed a perfect 3-0 road swing Wednesday when Jason Terry scored 31 points, and Dirk Nowitzki added 24 points and 12 rebounds to give Dallas a a 96-86 victory over the injury-riddled Houston Rockets.
Jason Kidd contributed eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Mavericks, who won their third in a row following a five-game skid.
The Mavs, who played without second-leading scorer Josh Howard (left ankle), also beat Houston for the 11th time in the last 14 meetings. Howard is questionable for Friday's game.
The Grizz snapped a four-game skid Tuesday at home when Rudy Gay scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, as Memphis routed the Sacramento Kings, 109-94.
Hakim Warrick scored 21 points and raked in 10 rebounds off the bench for the Grizzlies. Marc Gasol scored 16 points, and rookie O.J. Mayo added 11 points in a winning effort.
