Pistons host T-Wolves in Motor City |
(Sports Network) - The struggling Minnesota Timberwolves arrive in the Motor City Sunday in search of their first road win of the season as they face the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Boston's Kevin Garnett made 8-of-12 field goals en route to scoring 17 points, as the Celtics notched a 95-78 win over the Timberwolves on Friday.
It was Garnett's first game back in Minnesota, as the long-time Timberwolves player missed the Celtics' contest there last season because of an abdominal strain.
Al Jefferson, who was part of the package that came to the Twin Cities for Garnett, scored 23 points to pace the Timberwolves, who were coming off just their second win of the season, one that snapped an eight-game slide.
But Minnesota lost their ninth contest out of 10 after a 31.3-percent shooting effort, and whose only other double-digit scorer was Sebastian Telfair with 13 points.
The T-Wolves are 0-5 away from the Target Center this year.
The Pistons also lost to the powerful Celtics in their last encounter when Rajon Rondo had 18 points and doled out eight assists to help the Boston to a 98-80 victory over Detroit in a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday.
Allen Iverson scored 16 points and had four assists for the Pistons, who have dropped two of three.
Rasheed Wallace had 13 points and Richard Hamilton 12 in defeat.
On the injury front. Detroit forward Walter Herrmann is questionable for tonight's game with a concussion while Minnesota guards Rashad McCants (back spasms) and Kevin Ollie (calf) are doubtful.
Detroit swept the home-and-home series between the two clubs last season and has won three straight overall versus the Timberwolves.
