Yi leads Nets over Clippers

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Yi Jianlian netted a team-high 27 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead the New Jersey Nets to a 112-95 win over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Izod Center.

Vince Carter had 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Nets, who won their second game in as many nights and reached the .500 mark (6-6) on the season.

Devin Harris contributed 18 points and a team-high 10 assists for New Jersey, which has won four of five overall. All five starters finished in double figures as the Nets shot 50.7 percent from the field. Brook Lopez had 14 points and 10 boards.

Baron Davis poured in a game-high 30 points and handed out 10 helpers in a 12- for-24 shooting performance for the Clippers, who concluded a three-game road swing 1-2. Los Angeles has lost five of six overall and fell to 2-11 on the season.

Marcus Camby registered 18 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three blocks while Al Thornton donated 20 points as Los Angeles was short-handed for the second straight night.

LA lost a heartbreaker in Philadelphia on Friday when former Clipper Elton Brand made the go-ahead jumper with 57.9 seconds left. The Clippers were without the services of Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas as the duo was part of a trade Friday with the New York Knicks, in which LA got Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins.

Randolph, who was leading the Knicks with 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, and Collins have yet to make their debuts for the club.

The Nets owned a two-point edge after one quarter, 31-29, and held the Clippers in check through the second to lengthen that lead to 55-47 at the half.

Yi opened the second half with a pair of three-balls and after a Camby layup, Harris drove to the hoop for two and a 63-49 Nets lead. New Jersey later rattled off a 10-2 run to go up by 16 and finished the third with an 84-71 lead.

LA pulled to within seven on a pair of Eric Gordon free throws early in the fourth but New Jersey answered with field goals from Yi and Lopez before pulling away down the stretch for the win.
