Ducks dampen Beavers' Pac-10 title hopes in Civil War

Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Jeremiah Johnson ran for 219 yards and a touchdown on just 17 carries, and Jeremiah Masoli threw three TDs and ran for another as the 19th-ranked Oregon Ducks handed 17th-ranked Oregon State a 65-38 thrashing that also crushed the Beavers' bid for an outright Pac-10 championship and Rose Bowl berth.

The Ducks (9-3, 7-2 Pac-10) seemingly scored at will and racked up an eye- popping 694 yards of total offense to keep alive an outside shot to earn a share of the Pac-10 title. Oregon would need USC to lose in its finale against UCLA, creating a three-way tie atop the standings. The Trojans logged a 38-3 win over Notre Dame Saturday.

Masoli was 11-of-17 for 274 yards and ran for 53 yards on 12 carries. LeGarrette Blount ran for 112 yards on 17 carries while scoring once for Oregon , which made the 112th installment in what is known as the "Civil War" its third straight win and fifth in its last six games overall.

Terence Scott, Ed Dickson and Jeff Maehl each caught touchdown passes in the rout while the Ducks defense notched two interception returns for touchdowns and forced four turnovers overall.

Lyle Moevao had a career-high five touchdown passes on 27-of-51 attempts and 374 yards but also had two interceptions that resulted in 14 Oregon points.

Shane Morales had five catches for 68 yards and two scores while Sammie Stroughter grabbed seven balls for 145 yards for the Beavers (8-4, 7-2), who were aiming for their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1965. OSU also had its six-game winning streak snapped in dramatic fashion and also lost for the first time at home in nine games.

Jeremy Francis, Brady Camp and Joe Halahuni each caught TD passes as the Beavers also went off for 463 yards of offense despite being without freshman sensation Jacquizz Rodgers, who injured his shoulder last Saturday but was leading the Pac-10 in rushing with 1,253 yards coming into the game.

Brother James Rodgers was held in check with seven carries for 56 yards and had to leave the game because of a shoulder injury late in the fourth quarter.
